I started blogging a little over 4 years ago. Initially, I had no desire to use my website to make money. It was solely for the purpose of sharing my experiences as a wife, mother, teacher and pastor. About 2 years into it, I decided create a store, with a few inexpensive physical products, that I, myself, liked and used, on a daily basis. Those items, included, coffee mugs, cell phone accessories, notebooks, etc. There weren't any items in my store over $10. I wanted everything to be reasonably priced and affordable. Well..even though those items sold well, I lost money! It was costing me more to ship the items, than the items, themselves, cost. I was paying $12 to ship a mug the customer paid $5.99 for. So in December of 2018, I decided to discontinue all of the physical products and focus solely on the creation and sell of digital products. I also decided to focus my blog toward a different audience, mainly, other bloggers, content creators, and entrepreneurs. It was one of the best decisions, I've ever made. In my first month of launching, a revamped blog, and a digital products store, I made over $16,000! And the good news is, you can too! There are many bloggers who are able to make extra income, by running ads on their site, or by doing affiliate marketing. And that's absolutely fine, if it works for you. I, personally, didn't want to go that route. I didn't want my blog to be over-run with ads, for a few dollars. I, also, didn't want the pressure or obligation, of having to promote someone else's product or company, as an affiliate marketer, for a few cents on the dollar of their sales. I, understand, all to well, that people will pay you for who you are and what you know. If you can help your consumer, client, or base, solve a problem, make their lives easier in some way, or entertain them, they will pay you for it. So how exactly did I make over $16,000 in my first month of launching my Digital Products Line? I knew I needed a customer base, apart from a few friends and family, so in January of 2019, I redesigned my blog, and began working on growing my email list, by offering freebies, in the form of printable downloads. (You can read that how-to post here.) But, to make actual money: First, I wrote a book and self-published it on Amazon. It was a 1 Year Prayer Journal that include over 100 Daily Affirmations for every area of your life: business, personal, spiritual, and financial, as well as a Vision Board Guide. I made the digital version available in my store for $19.99 (the paperback is available on Amazon for a few dollars more). Secondly, since there are many other people, interested in self-publishing, their own writings, I created a step-by-step, e-Course on how to do it, and sold it in my store for $97. I launched it, under the heading of The Creator Academy, the third week of January. Third, I took the same Prayer Journal, and extracted the Affirmations, and wrote about the spiritual and universal principles of how they work, and created a totally new eBook, An Explanatory Guide To The Power Of Daily Affirmations, and sold it in my store for $5. And last but not least, I created an eBook entitled A Guide To Creating Digital Products That Generate Dollars. I realized, through feedback and comments, through the promotion of my products on social media, that, there were people, who were interested, in doing the same thing, but weren't savvy about how any of it worked. Sometimes, we take for granted that just because we're knowledgeable about certain subjects, that everyone else, is too. Some people said they didn't know what digital products were. They had questions about what programs or apps they should use to create them, what types of products they should create, based on their area of business, how should they price them, and how they would deliver them to their consumers. Based on their questions and feedback, I created the eBook, How To Create Digital Products That Generate Dollars, to walk them from step A to step Z. Which is from creating a client's avatar, to brainstorming the product, then to creation, of the actual product, and uploading it to their digital products store, and finally, marketing and promoting it. I sold it in my store for $29.99. By mid February, which was the end of my first month, of launching all 4 products, I'd made $16,451.89 And, the good news is, you can too! Digital products are inexpensive to create. They cost you relatively nothing, except time. I use Canva to create all of my eBooks, worksheets, planners, printables and graphics. I also offer an e-Course that will teach you how to do the same. I pay around $12 a month for it. My website host is Weebly, and I use their included shopping cart. You don't need another paid cart host like SamCart. I also use Weebly to create all of my eCourses. You don't need another paid platform like Kajabi or Teachable. I marketed all of my products, through Instagram, Pinterest, and my email list. So, in conclusion, you don't need a lot of upfront money, or platforms. All you need is determination, an idea, and time.
